Human Services Transportation Plan Adopted

The YVCOG is pleased to announce the availability of the 2018 Human Services Transportation Plan (HSTP).  The HSTP  seeks to:

  1. Obtain input representing public, private, and non-profit transportation and human services providers and participation by members of the public
  2. Identify the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities, older adults, veterans, youth, and people with low-incomes.
  3. Assess the existing transportation resources, needs and service gaps of Yakima County, Washington
  4. Provide strategies for meeting identified local needs
  5. Prioritize transportation services for funding and implementation
  6. Maximize the utilization of resources while minimizing duplication of services
  7. Ensure compliance with Federal transportation laws.

Per RCW 42.30, you are hereby notified that a Special Meeting of the YVCOG Executive Committee will occur on Thursday, May 31, 2018. This notice is required because the meeting is held outside its regularly scheduled date/time and/or place.

At 3:00 p.m., a Special Meeting will be called to order in the 2nd floor Conference Room of the 300 Building located at 311 N. 4th Street, Yakima, WA 98901 (YVCOG Offices). The meeting will be facilitated by James A. Restucci, Chairman. Homeless Housing and Assistance Program Emergency reserve fund and Camp Hope operating contract for July-December 2018 will be discussed.

The meeting is scheduled to conclude by 4:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

The Regional Homeless Housing and Assistance Program Governance Committee proposal for restructuring the Advisory Council will be presented.

Yakima Valley Trends Website is Launched

Launch of Yakima Valley Trends Website Paves the Way for Innovative Data-Driven Decision-Making

 

The Yakima Valley Trends website is officially unveiled! This community resource includes data about 140 current trends and statistics in 11 categories of information about the Yakima Valley (Demographics, Agriculture, Tourism, Economic Vitality, Education, Equity and Inclusion, the Environment, Health, Housing, Safety, and Transportation).

Each indicator is presented in an interactive graphical format that includes a narrative of why the indicator matters and a source for downloading the original data.

This project is the result of a partnership between the Yakima County Development Association, Eastern Washington University’s Institute for Public Policy and Economic Analysis, Yakima Valley Conference of Governments, and the Yakima Valley Community Foundation.

Yakima Valley Conference of Governments has up to $200,000 available to support the acquisition, rehabilitation, or construction of one Transitional Housing Facility. Preference will be given to projects that Serves high priority needs as identified by the Homeless Planning and Policy Council’s 5 Year Plan to End Homelessness.

2017-2020 METROPOLITAN AND REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

 A draft of the October 2017 Amendment to the 2017-2020 Yakima Valley Metropolitan and Regional Transportation Improvement Program (M/RTIP) will be available for public review beginning Wednesday, September 27, 2017 through noon, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 on the Yakima Valley Conference of Governments (YVCOG) web site at www.yvcog.org and at the following physical locations:
